AMERICAN COCKROACH

Scientific Name: Periplaneta americana

Description: A large (1 1/2 to 2" long), reddish or chocolate brown cockroach, with a pale edge to the thoracic shield. The most common outdoor cockroach in many of the area in the Bangladesh, and a common pest of drains and sewers in many areas.
American cockroaches are nocturnal, but are more commonly seen outdoors during daytime than most other species. They prefer to live in warm, damp areas, and are regularly found around the outsides of buildings living in vegetation and trees if the outdoor temperature will support their development. They will fly when warm.
The female cockroach produces egg cases containing about 16 eggs, which she cements to protected surfaces near where she lives. The presence of egg cases (both viable and hatched) is a common indicator of American cockroach activity. Development from an egg to an adult can take as little as 4-5 months under ideal conditions. Adults may live 2 years.
American cockroaches are omnivorous, and will eat a wide variety of foods. Their preference is for moist decaying or fermenting organic material, which makes them one of the primary pests around garbage and human wastes.

GERMAN COCKROACH

Scientific Name: Blatella germanica

Description: A small to medium sized (up to 5/8" long), pale brown cockroach with two distinct dark longitudinal stripes on the thoracic shield. The most widespread cockroach pest world-wide.
German cockroaches are nocturnal, and are normally only seen during daytime when infestations are very large. They prefer to live in warm, undisturbed narrow cracks near food and moisture, which makes them predisposed to infest human food preparation areas.
The female cockroach produces an egg case containing up to 38 eggs, which contributes to their very high reproductive potential. Development from an egg to an adult can take as little as 6-7 weeks under ideal conditions.
German cockroaches are omnivorous, and will eat a wide variety of foods. Their preference is for moist food, which causes most infestations to be located near water sources

SUMMARY OF PROFESSIONAL COCKROACH CONTROL METHODS

Many people mistakenly believe that only "dirty" people get cockroaches, but this is a myth. Every home or commercial kitchen has the potential to have a cockroach problem. Once a cockroach infestation gets started, its severity is usually determined by the resources available for cockroach survival--food, water and harbourage. The biggest cockroach problems are often in homes where there is a clutter problem because, the more stuff people have, especially in the kitchen, the more hiding places for roaches. But, clean, neat and tidy kitchens can still have roaches. For example, cockroaches can hide underneath the labels of canned goods and eat the paste off the labels. Because cockroaches tend to frequent garbage cans, sewers and other disease-laden locations, germs attach to their body that can transfer to food contact surfaces (utensils, plates) during the normal course of roach activities. These include disease-causing bacteria: Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli, Streptococcus (pneumonia), several helminthes (hookworm, pinworms, tapeworms), and even viruses (poliomyelitis). If this hasn't convinced you they are bad to live with, cockroaches also produce a powerful allergen that causes allergies and asthma.

ULV Machine

Controlling Household Pests (roaches, flies, ants, mosquitoes, centipedes, etc.). Pesticides registered in Bangladesh for public health pest control purpose will be used. Residual application of the pesticides at the recommended dosage will be made to all the breeding places and harborages of the pests. To control the flying insects, when necessary, space spraying will be done using SS fogger machine/ SS Aerosol Generator machine. Insecticide application in the kitchen and other food handling areas will be made with special care to avoid contamination. Insecticides will be applied in such a way that pests get maximum exposure to insecticides while posing minimum risks to the occupants.

Cockroach Gel

Gel will be applied as small bead (drops) to all the crack and crevices where cockroaches hide and breed. Application of gel will be concatenated more in the kitchen, dining areas, and other places in each premise where food is eaten. Application will be made in such a way that the gel beads (drops) are not washed away or wiped out in the normal course of activities in the office. The Gel is the most environment-friendly option of cockroach control job. Application may be made any time without any disruption of work. This is the only no-evacuation cockroach control technique currently available in pest control field.
